My niece Amber and nephew Johnathan are about to graduate from High school. Even writing that sentence seems weird to me. In my mind’s eye they are still just kids. I was only 10 when my niece was born. I remember not liking her at first because I was no longer the youngest in my family. Little did I know then how much joy she would bring to my life. I always enjoyed spending time with Amber, John, and Morwyn. I guess you can say I grew up along with them. Now I feel old seeing them start a new journey of their life. The journey they are currently on is not the usual. Their family just last year moved to Brazil. Now they are moving back to the U.S. leaving their family in Brazil.
To Amber and John I would like to say the following:
When I was a senior in High School, I ordered a journal though the mail. It had a daily planner and a section to write something for each day. It also had several poems and sayings in the book. I ended up using the journal and three more. I have something written down in paper for four years of my life, four very transitional years. I am glad for that and encourage you to do the same. I enjoy going back and reading what I was experiencing at that moment in time, the good and the bad. With that being said, the very first poem in the very first book became my favorite non-Christian poem. I will write it below:
“To live is to be separated from what you are in order to approach what you will become in the mysterious future. Solitude is the profoundest fact of the human condition. Man is the only being who knows he is alone and the only one who seeks out another. Man is nostalgic in search for communion.”
I know the coming transition will be difficult and lonely at times. Know you are never alone and God will guide you if you believe in Him. Also know that you are coming from your past growing on those experiences and also forging forward to find out who you are apart from your nuclear family. Embrace change. It is difficult at times but necessary for growth. Keep the foundations taught to you by your family as you search to find out who you really are. I know you character is strong. You two are great kids. I know you will be great adults too.
Call me if you need anything, anything at all. We are your family and will help you with your mom and dad so far away.
I love you dearly and am proud of you.
Rachel
I heard a noise from Nobi’s room today. He was frantically throwing several items out of a bin I use to store some of his things. He had made a huge mess in his room. I told him you will have to clean this mess up and left him. A little while later I passed his room again. This time it was spotless. In the middle of the floor sat the bin with Nobi inside of it. I almost lost it. Here are a couple of pictures.

Hello All,
Phoebe is here!!!!!! We are very excited to announce Phoebe Michelle’s birth. She was born Wednesday Afternoon at 1:09PM. She weighed 7lbs and 10ozs. She is 19 1/2 inches long. To me she looks just like Nobi did when he was born.
My delivery was very easy. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. I feel incredibly well having just delivered a couple of days ago. If you are in Searcy, please feel free to drop by the house. For my and Mark’s family that could not be here, I wish you were here.
Chrissy, I am so sad that I missed your call. Our phones didn’t work well in the hospital. I did get your message and it was good to hear your voice.
I love you all!!
Rachel

Here is my delivery story………
We went to the hospital at 5:30 to be induced. Before they even gave me any medicine I was having contractions. The lady doing my IV tried twice and then gave up. The next lady got an IV started in the first try…….well three for me. That wasn’t necessarily a good start. The doctor came in about 9:30 or so and broke my water. I think I lost about 10lbs when he did. Shortly after that, I asked for an epidural. The epidural experience was the only really bad experience I had. The doctor gave me probably 5 local shots and three epidurals before he got it right. One time he nicked my area of the back where the spinal fluid is located. I know this because I immediately got a headache. The contractions went away but the headache was pretty bad. Maybe another 30 minutes went by and I got really nauseous. I ended up throwing up. The nurse said I bet you are ready to push because for some reason the throwing up is a sign you are ready. I pushed once and they got the doctor. I pushed another four times and she was born. I was so easy that is didn’t seem real. She was a beautiful color and looked just perfect.
The headache went away after throwing up but has come back several times since then. They took some blood to put that in my back to patch the hole. But since my headache was not unbearable they decided not to do that procedure. Instead I am to drink lots of caffeine and take it easy. If my headaches don’t go away or get worse, I have to go back to have the blood patched into my back. Please pray I do not have to do this.
Phoebe is a good baby. She is doing well. I feel remarkably well. I do have some back pain and pray that will go away soon.
I just got back from the doctor today. I have three more weeks to go. I can’t believe the time is already here.
Mark and I moved stuff around this past week to get prepared. We got Mark moved into the living room for the most part. He still has to clean out the shed and put a lot of his stuff out there. Right now it is in the living room. ugghhh!!!
We moved Nobi into Mark’s old room. It looks really good and I think he is going to like being in there. Nobi has had a hard time adjusting though. He is getting up at night which he never used to do. He has also been staying up later when we do put him down. I tried to potty train last week but he was unwilling to even try. I am thinking too much change at one time. I guess we will wait until maybe this summer or early fall. I was really hoping to have that done before April but with us being so sick I have just ran out of time. Oh well.
In the mean time we cleaned out Nobi’s old room and it is ready for some furniture and the baby. I ordered the furniture and bedding yesterday. I do hope it gets here before she does. We got the furniture at Wal-Mart. You know they have some really cute stuff online. What I wanted was even at other stores but not as cheep as good old Wal-Mart. The Crib is coming Freight???? That sounds like it might take a long time. OOPS – good thing we have the pack and play.
I have nothing new to report from the doctor today. He just listen to the heart beat and said everything else was on schedule. I have been contracting for about two weeks now but nothing substantial. He basically said you are full term now so bring it on.
Mark started clinicals again today. He is in Little Rock all day today. He said to expect him back around 5 or 6 tonight. I am kind of glad to have the house to myself. It is nice and quiet.
I hope all is well with you!!!
Much Love,
Rachel
